I’ve gotten back into Ham Radio this year. I’ve had my license for about 20 years now, and rarely did much with it, but finally decided to get into it. So I programmed a couple repeaters into a cheap handheld Baofeng Ham Radio and started chatting with folks. A local repeater does “The Morning Grind” every day at 9am to check in with folks — anywhere from 10 to 20 amateurs will generally sound off either locally or via Echolink.
Trying to get my kiddos more involved, I picked up a few FRS and GMRS radios, and got my GMRS license as well — my youngest has become very enamored of it.
Out of curiosity, I decided to make a pocket reference card for the FRS and GMRS channels, so I can tune to monitor them on my ham equipment as easily — not broadcast, as you need explicitly FRS- or GMRS-approved hardware to transmit on those frequencies.
